Watson Explorer oneWEX troubleshooting

This page describes issues you may encounter and provides possible solutions.

Collection is not created when you save a collection

This may be caused by time differences between nodes. Ensure that time syncing is working and set up on each node.

Collection is not created due to lack of volume space

The total size of Watson™ Explorer data may exceed the default size of the Watson Explorer persistent volume. Increase the size.

  1. Sign in to a master node in the cluster.
  2. Execute the following command:
    kubectl edit pv dsx-wex-volume
  3. Increase the value of the property spec.capacity.storage: 10Gi.

Collection status is not changed to Indexed

Edit the collection. Change something and save the collection. IF it still does not index, this may be due to time differences between nodes. Ensure that time syncing is working and set up on each node.

Watson Explorer never completes launching

This issue may be due to a lack of CPU allocation. To resolve the issue, do the following steps.

  1. In the project, click the Launch Terminal icon.

    Launch Terminal

  2. In the terminal window, get the project id and the user id.
    echo $DSX_PROJECT_ID
    echo $DSX_USER_ID
  3. Sign in to a master node in the cluster.
  4. Execute the following command:
kubectl -n dsx edit deployment wex-server-<project_id>-<user_id>
  5. Change the value of readinessProbe.failureThreshold to 16.

Feature tree in WEX Feature Extractor node only displays an empty Root node

The feature tree will be filled when indexing of the collection is finished. Check the status of the collection. If the status is Indexing, wait until the status becomes Indexed.

Content Miner user interface does not show any facets

Facets become available when indexing of the collection is finished. Check the status of the collection. If the status is Indexing, wait until the status becomes Indexed.

How to obtain the log files of the Watson Explorer container

  1. In the project, click the Launch Terminal icon.

    Launch Terminal

  2. In the terminal window, execute the following command..
    cd datasets
    curl -o service-log.zip.csv "http://wex-server-$DSX_PROJECT_ID-svc:9080/wex/api/v1/system/logs/service?core=false&heapdump=false"
  3. Open the Datasets list page.
  4. Export service-log.zip.csv.
